The Brief

To make, paint and signwrite a 30cm square timber panel in about two weeks for a new Boutique Bed & Breakfast in France for the London designer.

What did we do?

We sourced the special red colour in a water based paint to accommodate the short time frame. Being an exterior sign the panel was made from marine plywood with a hardwood edging and invisible slot screw fixings on the back, it was primed, undercoated and finished on both the front and back in four gloss topcoats for longevity. The lettering was traced on to the panel using whiting and a drawing printed from the client’s own artwork. The off white colour was mixed to the specification and the lettering hand painted in two coats of enamel. We custom made a protective box so that the panel could be safely transported by courier to France within a a few days of being finished.

The Client Quote

“Kevin did an excellent job in the very short time available to get this done. I was determined that the sign should be hand painted to suit the quality of La Maison du Petit Jacques.”
