New and historic buildings case study; Old Spitalfields Market signwriting The Brief To signwrite and gild in 23.5 carat gold leaf shopfront signwork for more than 30 shops, newly refurbished by The Ballymore Group, within the listed buildings at Old Spitalfields Market, adhering to strict English Heritage and Consulting Architects Julian Harrap guidelines. What did we do? We submitted samples of our work for approval and fixed prices. We created full size drawings of all fascia and projecting signs in both the special Market typeface and tenants’ own logos and typefaces, gaining approval where appropriate. We carried out signwriting work both on site and in our workshops fitting in to the main contractors deadlines for shops being completed.
